Koko Roastery

Koko Roastery might sound like a new flagship of coffee powerhouse located in the Mills. However, its mother company, Coco Espresso is a much more familiar household name.

Operating in Hong Kong for more than a decade, Coco Espresso is a reputed brand of coffee house with 6 shops around the city. Being the first few to bring specialty coffee to the scene, their objective was always to provide a complete coffee experience by the freshest farm direct coffee beans and outstanding roasting technique.

Koko Roastery is the latest addition, the 7th shop, and their flagship in the newest creative hub in the Mills. Apart from the regular brunch, coffee and signature drinks, they also roast all of their coffees in here.

The vintage Faema Urania, restored by the owner himself, is the eye catching bomb in the shop. Operating in perfect condition, some said the shot pulled off this is even sweeter than the LaMarzocco next to it.

The place, like its origin, features a distressed but modern industrial style. The rawness of the building was exposed, and they are not afraid to hide it. The interior kind of resonate the other Coco Espressos around town.

When you walk around the shop you will eventually get to its vintage Probat UG22. A very sturdy, cast iron vintage that blends in smoothly with its shop. You probably won't realise its there, as its subtle, but you often cannot miss the scent of coffee coming out of it.

Koko is a great place for weekend walks, as the Mills often have creative people hanging out, with lots of common areas to relax. Its a very successful project by the Nan Fung Group, we highly respect this family run property group in Hong Kong. Its not just about developing, but they created lots of community projects for this city. The Mills is actually their restoration project, by turning their origin textile manufacturing into a design hub for the city.
